The Beach

Journal Entry: Thu Jul 3, 2008, 7:12 AM
I'm at the beach a lot. For some reason I find myself photographing dead things often. There are plenty to choose from there, and I'm starting to sort of associate the beach and death... driftwood, rotting fish, rotting seaweed... everything's dead there. But it's not some morbid kind of thing, more like some sort of hokey circle-of-life kind of thing.

Soon Ivan and I should be taking a trip to the mountains. I associate mountain peaks with the opposite; I associate them with life at its most vital. Even though the conditions there can be very harsh, all the living things there cling to life and survive.

In a way they're opposites to me, but they bring the same sort of inner peace.

I have your jacket. I found it in the laundry and went, "Hey, that's Erik's jacket. What's it doing here?"
Do you want to come and get it, or should I just bring it to school on wednesday?

It's a film camera that shoots half-frame. Since the camera shoots 2 pictures in the space that would normally occupy one image taken on a normal film camera, the developers basically give you diptychs because they print or scan 2 images at once. Their equipment is set up for normal, full-frame photos, which translates to 2 half-frame photos.

What do you mean? My camera doesn't do diptychs.
~Er1kksen:iconEr1kksen: Jun 19, 2007, 6:54:27 AM
Yeah, it's nice that that camera does diptychs for you. Except that you don't really have a choice with that camera. But it's still fun. :)

I'm really liking the use of diptychs Erik. I've always had great Ideas for triptychs and quadtychs etcetera but I can't figure it out on my photoshop version
